Understanding Senate Bill 0330
Senate Bill 0330 introduces important changes that will impact beauty industry professionals in Utah. Staying informed about new regulations is essential for protecting your business and ensuring compliance. Senate Bill 0330 introduces major changes to licensing in the beauty industry.
1. The Basic Esthetician License has been removed and replaced with a 200-hour Safety Permit covering facials, body treatments, and waxing.
2. A 50-hour Facial Wax Safety Permit has also been added.
3. The Lash & Brow License is now 270 hours and includes lash lifts, lash tinting, brow lamination, brow tinting, lash extensions, and added brow waxing. The division (DOPL) will determine who is authorized to teach. Remember MA accidentally was left off.
4. For barbers, the Barber License has been removed and replaced with a 150-hour Safety Permit for cutting and shaving only.

5. Additional permits include a 150-hour Chemical Services Safety Permit.

6. A 150-hour Hair Cutting Safety Permit.

7. Lash services was removed from cosmetology

8. Basic estheticians and barbers will be grandfathered in and will still be able to offer all services they were trained for.

9. Cosmetology hours were changed from 1600 hours to 1250 and lash extension services are removed from this license.

10. New Master barber license created at 1000 hours, includes hair cutting, shaving and chemical services.
